This is an orphanage by the sea in M City, a coastal city in a Southeast Asian country. A Yu and Mu Bai grew up here. Although they were orphans, they felt they had a very happy life.
But every so often, some children at the orphanage would disappear without a trace, leaving A Yu and Mu Bai bewildered.
One day, they secretly entered the office area that was off-limits to the children. Only then did they learn the truth: the orphanage's false prosperity and the enormous conspiracy concealed behind them.
From that day on, every morning when the sun rose, a group of children would climb onto the wall and gaze eastward, because they knew that was where the light was, and where home lay.
