The Wind Chime Rings

Everyone at University A knew Shen Jiabai from the finance department was flirting with a sophomore art student. The night they announced their relationship on Moments, Lin Chen hid under her blanket and cried until her voice gave out. This was Shen Jiabai's first love. And so Lin Chen's unrequited love ended in complete failure. She had known Shen Jiabai for almost eight years, yet he had never felt even the slightest thing for her. Luckily, giving up was what she did best. Later, Shen Jiabai heard from a friend that Lin Chen was dating someone. Apparently, her boyfriend was a poor student who could barely afford school on grants and scholarships. Shen Jiabai didn't think much of it. There was nothing unusual about adults dating, and it was fine if her taste wasn't great. But the afternoon after Lin Chen's birthday, he saw her with his own eyes, walking hand in hand out of a hotel with her boyfriend, both of them looking blissfully happy. Theme: Companionship isn't necessarily the most heartfelt confession of love.
