The Ruthless Path

I once had a senior brother. I don't remember what he looked like. I have no memories of him, and hearing his name leaves me unmoved. Everyone says I knew him well. They say we explored secret realms together, crossed the Sea of the Dead, and slew demons and monsters side by side. When they tell me these things, it feels like I'm listening to someone else's story. I am me. The me in that story followed the Gentlemanly Dao, treated people with sincerity, and gathered friends around me. I am not me. The me I am now follows the Ruthless Dao. When my sword is drawn, frost blankets the Nine Provinces. I remember nothing. I can't recall a thing. Yet every night, when darkness falls, the bones along my back ache faintly. When I can't sleep, I often sit by the window. From there, I can see a withered tree that has stood for two hundred years. Beneath it lies a jar of wine. They say my senior brother buried it for me. But I don't remember my senior brother. Reader's Guide: 1. The protagonist has amnesia. 2. Happy ending.
