[Dream of the Red Chamber] After Marrying Far Away

The idea for this story came to me suddenly while I was writing After the Escape. I suddenly felt like writing about Tanchun's life after marrying far away. Compared with the girls in Dream of the Red Chamber who weep and sigh over the passing of spring, Tanchun is undoubtedly outstanding, clever, capable, and different from the rest.

When Tanchun managed the household, she promoted useful practices and eliminated harmful ones. Cao Xueqin showed us a talented woman doing her utmost for a family on the verge of collapse. If she were given a whole new land to develop, what kind of surprises would she create? I hope you enjoy this story about Tanchun after she becomes a prince's consort!

Blurb 1: I thought this was an imperial marriage I had to accept, sacrificing myself for my country. I thought it was a savage, benighted place ruled by brute force. I thought he would be a terrifying, ferocious husband. I never expected to meet the most sunny-hearted man in the world, the most dependable husband, and a life happier than I could have imagined.

Blurb 2: Xuan Yuan Shan never imagined he would be so lucky. He was an orphan who had become a bandit chief in the mountains, and that alone would have been enough. Who knew that first the King of Qiongzhou would recognize him as his son, and then he would marry a princess who had traveled all the way from the capital?

Before the princess arrived, Xuan Yuan Shan said: Hmph, what do I care about some princess? I don't give a damn about a delicate girl raised in luxury. She can't even lift a sword, and a gust of wind would knock her over. She's nothing like the bold and spirited women of Qiongzhou!

After the princess arrived, Xuan Yuan Shan said: My wife can ride horses, my wife can shoot arrows, my wife can write, my wife can manage a household, and my wife can even solve cases. Wife, please accept my deepest admiration!!!

Who knew love and happiness could come so suddenly!
