"Mom, wake up. We have to find Dad, quickly."
The first thing Ke Bei heard when she opened her eyes was that sentence.
Then the weight on her leg suddenly lifted. The boy in front of her, who wasn't even six, picked up the boulder pinning her down and tossed it aside.
A sharp pain hit her, jolting her fully awake. Only then did she realize she had been reborn, back to the moment just before the disasters began.
Her son Cheng Tian, whom she'd given birth to after the apocalypse, had returned with her.
"Can you get up? Hurry, the bridge is going to collapse!"
Before she could answer, her son pulled her up, swung her over his shoulder, and ran.
Clinging to her little one's back, Ke Bei closed her eyes in exasperation and understood:
Her little cub's special ability had returned with him too.

After retiring from the special forces, Cheng Qian opened a car repair shop, and business was good. Since he had no one else to feed, life was going great.
Until one day, a bridge in the city collapsed, and a woman with a child came looking for him and told him:
"I'm your wife, and he's your son. Hurry and come with us. If we have to die, our family will die together!"
Cheng Qian: "..."
I've never even dated! Where'd this wife and kid come from?!
PS: 1) There is no handing things over to the authorities. The female lead doesn't have much to hand over anyway.
2) She will help the country, but that happens later. In the early stages, the focus is on escaping.
3) The question of whether the female lead in the two timelines will run into herself is addressed in the author's note for Chapter Five, and will also be covered in the story later.
4) This is entirely fictional. Please don't compare it to reality.

Ten years into the apocalypse, the married couple Shao Qi and Le Xuan died surrounded by a pack of wolves.
When they woke up again, they discovered they were both bound to a System called "Saving Villainous Young Cubs in Other Worlds."
The System required them to travel through various other worlds and save the young ones who were destined to either turn evil or die because of natural disasters, suffering, or human schemes. They would become their parents.
If they failed a mission, they would return to the moment before their deaths, surrounded by wolves once again and suffering through the agony of being torn apart;
if they completed all the missions, they could choose a world they liked to settle in and fulfill Shao Qi's dying wish.
Le Xuan turned to her. "What did you wish for before you died?"
Shao Qi: "...I forgot."
For the sake of this forgotten wish, the two began traveling through various minor worlds, saving the little ones and doing their best to be good parents.
Apocalypse One: In a world of biological mutations, they rescue a prodigy abandoned in a lab by a leading scientist;
Apocalypse Two: Plants mutate and poisonous creatures run rampant as they search for their blind daughter;
Apocalypse Three: Natural disasters and extreme cold. They struggle to survive with their twin daughters;
Apocalypse Four: Spiritual energy and special abilities. They lie back and take it easy with their genius son as their support;
…
Years later, Shao Qi and Le Xuan watched the six little ones they'd raised take charge of the base at such a young age, and felt deeply comforted.
They waved goodbye without a trace of regret and quietly left, returning to their original world.
Standing at the door of their old home, they smiled at each other.
But the moment they opened the door, they found themselves face-to-face with six resentful pairs of eyes.
"Dad! Mom!"
Looking at the rambunctious little ones filling the house, Le Xuan rubbed her temples and turned to her. "Wasn't your wish to come home and live happily together?"
Shao Qi: "..."
There was one more part: with our children.
