My name is Natsume Asari. I live at 2-21 Beika Town, Beika City, Tokyo. The fancy little mansion not far from me belongs to the wicked rich kid, Shinichi Kudo.

Here's how it happened.
On the day I turned sixteen, driven by the sort of silly thoughts every middle school boy has, I used my grandfather's old book, The Complete Guide to Fortune-Telling: A Step-by-Step Manual for Finding Your Destined Other Half, to divine my fate. Then, in a strange twist, I saw what my other half would be like.
The perspective was a little low, and the figure seemed to be a petite shadow, which was kind of strange. Maybe it was just a girl's way of making herself cuter and smaller with makeup when she's around other people. That would make her a little hard to find, though.
But there is always a way.
To my delight, my childhood friend Ran was a perfect match for the destiny I'd divined.
People thought he was exceptionally smart: top grades, check.
He was considered unbelievably lucky: lucky streak, check.
I saw an opponent crying in front of him: karate champion, check.
He got tangled up with all sorts of dangerous men: dangerous man Kudo, check.
In short, at that moment I was overjoyed, thrilled beyond belief, and beside myself with happiness.
If my fortune-telling was right, all I had to do was get rid of the third wheel between Ran and me, Shinichi Kudo! Then I could enjoy a happy life exorcising demons by day to build up good karma, and coming home to hold my wife!
But then something strange happened.
I realized that things didn't quite add up. Someone else seemed more like the shadow I'd seen in my fortune-telling.
The fortune-telling wasn't wrong. My life was.
My destined partner is a guy, and he's my love rival. Is there any chance I can start over?

1. I want to try writing a silly story that uses nothing but "hahaha." Updates whenever inspiration strikes.
2. The male lead comes from a family of onmyoji whose inherited powers aren't very reliable. In the end, he'll still rely on summoned beasts, like a Mazda that has become a spirit, and so on.
