Jiangnan Has Nothing to Offer

Liu Xue had lived for a thousand years and felt that the Great Way was empty and utterly devoid of interest.

One day, she heard that the mortal world was full of beautiful scenery, and that every day of spring, summer, autumn, and winter had its own joys. Mortals strove to let no day pass in vain.

Intrigued, she attached herself to the body of a princess of the imperial family.

When she first met Feng Fuliu, she smiled coquettishly. "Little Prime Minister, your name is far too frivolous. It can't bear the immense fortune you enjoy now."

Feng Fuliu smiled gently. "Princess, it was given to me by someone from my past."

He said no more.

Liu Xue lowered her eyes and fell silent. Having lived so long, she probably had one or two old acquaintances she didn't want other people to bring up either.

Another thousand years passed. A little demon by her side flattered her: "My lord, so what if mortals enjoy a moment of glory? After thousands of years, who will even remember their names?"

Liu Xue fell silent. That day, the wind howled and the snow fell heavily. She wrapped her fox-fur coat tighter and murmured into the stillness: "...Feng Fuliu."

I loved him once, and he waited a thousand years for me.

*Open ending (though it is actually a happy ending).
