Ming Xue and Deng Ai He seem like people from two different worlds. That's what everyone at C High School thinks.
Like a beautiful ball of fire, Ming Xue is gorgeous and hot-tempered. After just a month at school, her habit of having a "boyfriend of the month" and her conduct score of zero had become as famous as her face.
Deng Ai He, on the other hand, is the best student council president C High School has ever had: cheerful, dependable, a natural leader, and excellent in both conduct and academics. Every student and teacher trusts him.
During a semester of docking each other's points like a cat chasing a mouse, nobody knew they had known each other for years.
Just as nobody knew they lived under the same roof.
-
A cloudy morning. The whole school was in morning study hall.
The student council's discipline committee was making the rounds to check students' appearance and uniforms, led by Deng Ai He himself.
When they reached Class 1, Grade 10, Ming Xue was the only one without her name tag.
The room was noisy.
A classmate she'd argued with made sarcastic remarks, blaming her for holding everyone back, but failed to notice
that the young student council president was walking over from the back of the crowd.
As everyone's gaze converged on them, Deng Ai He stopped, put away his score sheet, and crouched down to pin the name tag she'd left at home onto Ming Xue.
"I brought it for you. Stop throwing a tantrum."
He rolled up the sleeves of his white shirt and rested an elbow on his knee, smiling at her. "Mom and Uncle aren't home, but you've still got your big brother. Stop messaging them three times a day to come back. The group chat's getting noisy."
Everyone's eyes shifted between her and Deng Ai He.
Ming Xue complained, "As if I wanted to see you..." as she hid her phone behind her back.
On the phone screen was a message she'd just sent to the contacts saved as "Mom" and "Uncle."
"Do you really have to come home a week earlier?"
