Finding Out My Father Is the Villain

Updates whenever inspiration strikes. I haven't figured out the story yet.

Song Mingyue has died three times.

The first time was on the execution platform beneath the imperial city. Her father was convicted for backing the wrong side, and the entire Song family was sentenced to death. Dressed in fine silk stained with blood, she heard the blade fall, and everything before her eyes turned scarlet. In that moment, all she felt was indignation. She couldn't even understand why she had to die.

The second time was among the tiles and bricks of the Cold Palace. She drank the poisoned wine, and her whole body turned cold. She had been cautious in this life, helping the Fifth Prince ascend the throne, thinking she could at least win the Song family a chance to survive. But it was only another dead end. As she lay dying, she remembered the look in her father's eyes on the execution platform, and realized that she, too, felt a little guilt and regret.

The third time was in a remote village. She tried to escape the storms of court, but was caught all the same and beheaded in the marketplace. That night, she understood: if all she did was run, she would never escape her destined death.

She thought death would be the end, but every time she closed her eyes and opened them again, the scenery was unchanged, and the people and events had returned.

Watching the people of the Song family laughing and chatting, she finally understood: Heaven was determined to make her, Song Mingyue, play this deadly game of chess.

Many years later, beneath the imperial city of Great Ning, Song Mingyue stood atop the jade steps as the Princess Regent, clad in a long robe the color of rosy dawn.

Her gaze swept across the civil and military officials bowing in submission, and at last she understood: those who achieve great things never leave their fate in Heaven's hands.
