Teleporting...
Told in first person, with a rather strange premise. It's based on some ideas I've had for a long time, and no one has written anything like it yet.
The protagonist is a little neurotic. In the middle of the night, he transmigrates to Neon Country and experiences all kinds of terrifying events. He can't make sense of time and has no idea what year he's in. At first, he doesn't even have any clothes, so he walks down the street wrapped in a blanket, completely naked, and he can't understand the language.
Then he meets a mind-reading monster. The monster used to be human, but had its bones removed and turned into a snake-like creature. The two poor souls rely on each other for survival. Neither can leave the other.
The protagonist will grow stronger, but he's very weak at first and keeps being used as a blood bag. It's a case of pretending to be weak and then revealing his strength.
But he has lots of ideas. Sometimes they're scientific, sometimes mythological, and his thoughts leap all over the place.
It's impossible to classify as science fiction, cultivation, or Lovecraftian horror.
The protagonist and several Chinese supporting characters are devoted to the Party. Even in another world, they don't forget to sing the national anthem, and their secret code is That Rabbit.
There's a passage where the protagonist remembers his first love. Can you guess where his first love is? They're ten years apart in age and haven't seen each other in twenty years. How can the author get them together? Hehehe (?﹃??) They end up in a very sweet relationship.
“Then... do you still remember the person you fell in love with at first sight when you were a child?” His voice seemed to be right next to my ear. I could even feel someone's breath. “He's here too. Twenty years have passed. You've grown from a little child into who you are now, but he still looks just as he did when he first arrived. He hasn't changed at all.”
I was bewildered for a moment and blurted out, “Who is that?”
“He was... a boy as bright as the sunlight.”
A scene suddenly sprang into my mind. It was a handsome older boy I had met only once.
I was a master at hide-and-seek. When I was six, I was playing with my classmates and found a small space behind the kindergarten storeroom. Once I found it, no one could catch me. You couldn't spot it from outside unless you went in. The gap between the building and the wall was so narrow that only a child like me could fit through. Once you passed through the entrance, you found a “forgotten place” full of fallen leaves and trash, with enough room for three adults.
In that “forgotten place,” I liked to watch the clouds, count the birds flying by, and ponder questions with no answers. I had a blue glass bird wind chime, and I used it to listen to the wind. One day, I slipped away from everyone as usual and hid there, but for the first time in my life, someone found me.
South of the kindergarten was a high school. Less than ten meters away, on one of its floors, there was an open landing at the turn of the stairs. A high school boy was leaning on the railing, staring at me without moving. When I turned around, I jumped in fright, but he seemed delighted. He greeted me: “Hey, kid! What's your name?”
I looked up at him. He was a very fair-skinned boy, a little shorter than other boys his age. His smile was sweet. He wore an ordinary baseball cap, his hair was a little long, and the wind caught his loose white shirt, making it look like flapping wings. He smiled and waved at me. “Hey, kid, look over here.”
For a moment, I felt as if something had captured my soul. I stared straight at him and stayed frozen for a long time.
“Class is about to start. Hurry back!” He waved at me, then turned and went back into the classroom. All that remained was the railing painted green.
He was adorable and gentle, like an elf. I thought about him for days afterward. I couldn't stop thinking about him, and for some reason, I felt sad.
Two years later, an opportunity arose for me to enter that high school. I went to the building with a nervous heart. I stared up at it, counted the floors, and found the railing, as if that boy might still be standing there.
But I knew perfectly well that after two years, he might have changed classes or even graduated. There was no way he was still there. Countless spaces and years lay between us. He was someone I could never approach. By the time I grew up, most of the exciting years of his life would already be behind him. He would never stop and wait for me.
Because he was so distant and unreachable, he became a perfect person in my heart.
I gripped the gold coin in my hand. “Where is he?”
[Once you level up, you'll gain access, and I'll send you to his timeline.]
I wiped the tears from my chin with the back of my hand. A strange, indescribable emotion filled me. I was like a child chasing the stars. One day I grew wings, escaped the limits of space, and found myself close enough to see the brightest star with my own eyes. I couldn't help wondering: could that star really belong to me? Even if only for a fleeting moment?
[What are you thinking about?]
“Where is this place?” I was eager to fly, to get closer to that light.
