If your husband were King Wu Ding of Shang, with more than sixty wives and three queens, what would you do?
Fu Hao, who has her own territory, palace, slaves, and army, holds a high position in the kingdom and doesn't even live with him, says, "I'll make do. What else can I do?"
As the highest-ranking priestess of the Zi clan, Fu Hao is seen by all the people as a divine maiden by birth, and oversees the kingdom's shamans and sacrifices. When Wu Ding, the nephew of King Pan Geng of Shang, sought her hand in marriage, the court was shaken.
Fu Hao looked at the so-called crown prince before her, covered in mud and just back from the fields, and smiled gently. "If Your Majesty seeks my hand, offer me the kingdom as a bride price."
Later, the High Priestess Fu Hao stood atop the sacrificial altar, waving her divine banner to proclaim her achievements to the world and pray to the gods for the people's well-being.
P.S. I'm not a stickler for historical accuracy, so please feel free to point out any issues.
The protagonist is Fu Hao. Hao is her surname, pronounced Zi. The female radical was added to mark her as a woman. Since she will marry, in accordance with history, this is labeled as romance, but there is no romantic storyline. Wu Ding and Fu Hao use each other.
There are sacrificial rituals, so the world has a mildly superstitious worldview.
Civilization is still in its primitive stages. Please forgive anything that doesn't follow modern logic.
