At Mingxi High, no one would ever associate Xu Chensi with Chu Ying.

Xu Chensi stared at her for several seconds. A low laugh escaped him, laced with an unmistakable mockery. He left her with a single word: "Fine."

Everyone else thought they had parted on good terms. In truth, the next day he went mad calling her. After dialing over a hundred times, she finally picked up.

He cast aside all his pride, his voice hoarse.

"Chu Ying, just come back to me. I'll pretend you never betrayed me."

The girl hung up without a change in expression.

When they met again, it was in a private room awash with neon lights and noise. Languid music mingled with the smell of smoke and alcohol, making the air feel stifling.

Xu Chensi was just as he had been back then, never short of company. People around him chatted and laughed, while a woman beside him lit his cigarette. He was always in his element in places like this.

The moment he saw Chu Ying, he froze briefly, then returned to his usual composure. He looked completely unaffected, though the air around him turned colder.

Someone teased them, asking if they knew each other. Chu Ying held her glass, lowered her eyes for a sip, and answered lightly, "I don't know him."

Xu Chensi stood and walked up to her. Looking down at her, he gripped her chin. His barely restrained emotions surged in his eyes as he gritted out each word: "Chu Ying, how dare you say you don't know me?"
