It's So Hard for a Cat to Repay a Kindness

The blurb for my next story, "Book Transmigration: Becoming the Qin Dynasty Tyrant’s “Prince Consort”", is at the bottom. If you’re interested, please add it to your favorites~ After the little cat demon Wu Mian took human form, he couldn’t wait to find Xie Jiuzhe, who had saved his life on a rainy night, and repay his kindness. But Xie Jiuzhe had looks and a good family background, and was talented in his own right. How was a cat supposed to repay him? After racking his brains and becoming Xie Jiuzhe’s assistant trainee, Wu Mian decided to cheer him up with gifts that even Xie Jiuzhe couldn’t get for himself! When Xie Jiuzhe said birds were cute, Wu Mian stayed up all night to catch an identical bird for him. When Xie Jiuzhe said he liked keeping fish, Wu Mian went into the sea and caught the most beautiful fish for him. When Xie Jiuzhe wanted to grow flowers, Wu Mian went into the mountains and picked the prettiest ones for him. When Xie Jiuzhe said he liked bears, Wu Mian went and caught him a bear cub. But, to his surprise, every time, Xie Jiuzhe handed the gift Wu Mian had brought him to a few people in uniform. Did Xie Jiuzhe not like his gifts? Wu Mian was baffled. “Why is repaying someone so hard?” Xie Jiuzhe hired a handsome personal assistant with black hair and blue eyes. From the day the young assistant started, Xie Jiuzhe’s life gradually turned into a horror story, with him constantly on the verge of being arrested. The first time, a half-dead long-tailed tit appeared on his desk. It was a nationally protected Class II animal, and keeping one could land you in prison for life. The second time, he received a peach blossom fish, a nationally protected Class I animal that could also get him a life sentence. The third time, he received a Xingmu, an ancient plant that had been extinct for a billion years and was of immeasurable value. But the most absurd thing was yet to come. The moment he saw a panda cub sitting in his home, his vision went black. Three strikes and you’re out. Xie Jiuzhe firmly believed that if things continued this way, he was going to become a lifetime VIP at the southern prison! A looks-obsessed, fluff-loving CEO gong X a sweet, clueless cat demon shou. Thank you for your support~ Upcoming: "Book Transmigration: Becoming the Qin Dynasty Tyrant’s “Prince Consort”" Tuqiu Jiu closed his eyes, opened them, and found himself in the State of Qin during the Warring States period, just as King Zheng had begun his campaign to unify the realm. He got a rather difficult start: born into the nobility, he was the eldest legitimate son, but had a wicked stepmother and several foolish brothers. His house leaked from every corner, his food and clothes were no better than a servant’s, and he was even implicated in the case of Princess Huazhang’s future prince consort dying suddenly. His whole family was thrown into prison. To save his life, Tuqiu Jiu did everything he could to solve the case and keep himself alive. But what he never expected was to be chosen as Princess Huazhang’s next prince consort. Princess Huazhang was King Zheng’s eldest daughter, talented and breathtakingly beautiful, with even the ability to influence state affairs. Out of envy and jealousy, people spread all sorts of rumors about her prince consort. Merchants mocked Tuqiu Jiu for his poor background. He put his head down and created perfume that took Qin by storm and even sold well in the other four states, becoming the richest man in Qin overnight. The sons of officials looked down on him for not knowing small seal script and being illiterate. Tuqiu Jiu improvised an eloquent speech on the spot and, with the princess’s support, founded an academy that was hailed as Qin’s Jixia Academy. The night before he married Princess Huazhang, he dreamed and discovered that he hadn’t transmigrated into history, but into a novel. The protagonist of the book was Princess Huazhang, who had been forced to live as a girl since childhood because of a fangshi. After Qin Shi Huang’s death, Princess Huazhang, devastated by her father’s passing, was forced to face Hu Hai’s usurpation and the suicide of her closest brother, Fusu. In a single night, Huazhang lost his family. Most of his brothers and sisters were forced to their deaths as well. When poisoned wine was brought to him, he snapped, leading his followers to overthrow Hu Hai and become ruler of Qin, avenging his father and brothers. But the hatred still burning inside him turned him into a tyrant. The Zhao and Li families were exterminated. Even anyone remotely connected to them had their entire clan put to death. Anyone who spoke even a single bad word about the late emperor or Prince Fusu was arrested and had their tongue cut out. Qin was plunged into a new storm of bloodshed, and everyone lived in fear. After waking from his dream, he faced his wedding night. The “princess” had taken off his clothes, was bigger than he was, and was about to consummate their marriage with him. Remembering the man’s potential for madness, he felt he finally understood what had happened to all the previous prospective prince consorts.
