Three months before their wedding, Liang Jia began to suspect that she had another man on the side.
To put his mind at ease, Jiahui came straight home after work every day, immediately told him whenever she had to go somewhere, and even handed over her phone when she got home so he could check her messages and call history.
All her passwords, including her bank card PIN, were his birthday.
But Liang Jia still doubted that she loved him, and his temper grew worse by the day.
Until one day, he finally slumped into the sofa, his back bent. Pointing at his missing right leg, he sneered, "Song Jiahui, I know you're only with me because you pity me. But I don't want your pity. Get out, and don't ever show your face again."
Liang Jia had lost his leg at eighteen, during their final year of high school, when he was run over by a speeding truck while saving Jiahui.
Jiahui ran away in tears. After a blinding flash of light, she was hit by a car.
When she opened her eyes again, she was sitting in a classroom. The ceiling fan whirred overhead, and cicadas buzzed outside the window. At the lectern, a bald teacher waved a set square and a piece of chalk, spittle flying as he explained a problem about vectors in space. Most of the students were dozing off. A trash can in the corner gave off a foul smell, and little notes flew back and forth...
She had returned to her high school days.
The moment the bell rang, she dashed out and sprinted toward Liang Jia's classroom.
Back then, Liang Jia was tall and slim, wearing a white T-shirt and pale blue school trousers. His backpack hung over one shoulder as he spun a basketball in his hand, heading for the courts surrounded by friends.
In the orange evening light, the hot breeze tousled his short, unruly hair, and his face was bright with a smile.
Boys and girls passing by all looked at him. He was handsome, came from a good family, had a good personality, and ranked first in his year. He had maxed out his talents in music and sports, was every teacher's model student, and had a bright future ahead of him.
Amid the endless crowd of students heading home, he didn't notice her, an ordinary girl.
Jiahui looked at his unharmed leg, smiled, and wiped away her tears. She decided to give him a perfect life in return.
