Xiao Qing: Drinking Wine

In my idle hours, I often feel gloomy. The nights are long, and if I happen to have good wine, I drink every evening. Sometimes I drink alone, watching my shadow, and suddenly find myself drunk. After getting drunk, I would write a few lines to amuse myself. Before long, I had quite a pile of them, with no particular order to the words. I asked an old friend to copy them out, just for a laugh. Tao Yuanming, Preface to Drinking Wine
