He later entrusted it to Zhulong Xi for safekeeping. Daozu once gave his female disciple, the Divine Lady Linghua, a beautiful jade, and she later bore a son, whose courtesy name was Jue and whose given name was Ziyu. When Shiyang led the gods in a struggle for the jade disc, war broke out. Jue proclaimed the Dao amid chaos and established the Netherworld, making it a waystation for the souls of all living things, and declaring himself its sovereign. Ten thousand years later, a solar eclipse once again threw the underworld into turmoil. Seizing the opportunity, the Judge escaped the underworld with Jiuying and wreaked havoc among the living. The Soul-Summoning Rite resurfaced in the mortal realm, once again bringing to light the truth behind the gods' annihilation of the Sovereign all those years ago.
