Synopsis:

[Ancient World] A refined general top x a sharp-tongued, flirtatious emperor bottom

After returning victorious, Yan Yiyun, hailed as "the God of War of Daliang," is left with both legs crippled. Tormented by nightmares, he sees mountains of corpses and, out of the corner of his eye, the bodies of his closest family, secretly murdered because his achievements had begun to threaten the throne. Every sight is horrifying.

When he wakes, hatred surges in his heart.

He had no desire to serve the emperor any longer, but then he noticed that the foolish ruler on the throne had suddenly begun acting strangely.

The emperor used to avoid him like the plague. Now he showers him with gold and silver, sends him beautiful women, and allows him to attend court without kneeling. He even bends down to take off Yan Yiyun's boots and make his bed himself.

Yan Yiyun assumes the emperor has somehow learned of his treasonous intentions and is trying to appease him.

So he decides to go all the way. Pointing his long sword at the emperor's neck, he says, "Your Majesty, it's time to abdicate."

He had expected timid Lan Yunqian to tremble and beg for his life. Instead, the foolish emperor's eyes light up, and he can barely contain his delight. "Oh, so the general wants the throne? You should have said so! I'll draft the decree right away. Just wait a moment."

Yan Yiyun watches him coldly, unsure what the foolish emperor is up to. He is about to press his sword forward another inch when the emperor suddenly grabs his hand. "Good boy, put the sword down. It'll break my heart if you cut your hand."

Yan Yiyun: "???"

An accident takes An Zhiqiu's parents in a car crash. The culprit is none other than their family driver, Qiao Qingyan.

Qiao Qiao will never forget the day his father died. An Zhiqiu was holding portraits of his own parents too, and looked at Qiao Qiao as if he wanted to tear him apart.

To atone for his father's crime, Qiao Qiao stays with the An family, clearing every obstacle from An Zhiqiu's path. Those around them even call him An Zhiqiu's "most obedient dog."

Qiao Qiao only smiles, then silently slips on the ill-fitting ring An Zhiqiu tossed him, becoming An Zhiqiu's substitute lover.

But just as Qiao Qiao has poured his heart and soul into giving An Zhiqiu everything, he unexpectedly discovers he has a brain tumor. On the day he receives the test results, he sees An Zhiqiu and his one true love hiding in a corner of the hospital, kissing passionately.

Qiao Qiao falls silent for a moment. He says nothing, only throws away An Zhiqiu's ring. The instant he walks out of the hospital, he receives a text from a detective:

"Your father wasn't the one who killed An Zhiqiu's parents."

Qiao Qiao smiles through his tears. The heavy burden falls away in an instant. He turns and leaves the An family without hesitation, never looking back.

But after he leaves, An Zhiqiu goes mad.

This man, who stands at the top of S City's financial world, swallows his pride and learns to beg just to find Qiao Qiao. At last, he searches every inch of the city and finds Qiao Qiao recuperating in a sanatorium.

His thin clothes are chilled by the wind, but his grip on Qiao Qiao's wrist is astonishingly strong. Overwhelmed by the joy of getting back what he had lost, he speaks in a trembling voice, his eyes red:

"Qiao Qiao, don't break up with me. Please come back with me, okay?"

Qiao Qiao gives a soft laugh, pulls his hand free, and looks up at An Zhiqiu, his voice cool and indifferent:

"Being with you makes me feel dirty."

*The top suffers first, then the bottom; a husband-chasing crematorium.

*Both are each other's first and only.
