The Frail Military Strategist Is Always Acting

Young General Qi Feibai returned victorious, only to be greeted with a marriage decree ordering him to wed the deposed Crown Prince three years later.

The deposed Crown Prince, Xiao Henglu, coughed up blood every few steps. He was a sickly man who had long since lost any chance of competing for power.

Feeling insulted, Qi Feibai accepted the decree without a word and fled back to the borderlands.

The army picked up a dying man whose beauty far surpassed that of the rough soldiers.

They treated him like a spy, keeping him under guard and using every means to humiliate him.

But during a dangerous battle, he turned the tide and was appointed military strategist.

Qi Feibai's trust in him grew by the day, and he often complained to him about his arranged marriage.

The strategist always just smiled without a word.

Three years passed, but Qi Feibai still refused to return to the capital. He even declared that he'd rather marry the strategist than the Crown Prince. Everyone in camp said he was shirking his duty.

Furious, the young general stormed into the strategist's tent and demanded, "Am I a man or not? Do I have any sense of duty? Is this my fault or the Crown Prince's?"

The strategist was grabbed by the front of his robe, yet remained perfectly calm, smiling as he said, "You are. You do. It's his fault."

Then, on the wedding day, in full view of everyone, the strategist mounted the horse meant for the groom.

Qi Feibai: "..."

Was he the one getting married or not?

You go and fight for your empire. I'll defend your country.
