[Age Gap] [Mutual Pining] [Possessive Love]
P1
When Xu Yi was seventeen, her family fell on hard times, and she was entrusted to the care of a prominent family.
She first met Liang Yanchao at the police station. The man wore a black suit, elegant and upright. He stood at the pinnacle of the powerful elite, and was the future heir to the Liang family.
She sat on a chair, too afraid to raise her head. She never expected him to crouch down in front of her, the corners of his eyes warm. "My name is Liang Yanchao."
"You can call me Big Brother, too."
P2
Perhaps out of regard for the bond between their fathers, Liang Yanchao always spoiled her.
Even when she accidentally smashed a celadon vase worth tens of millions, he only smiled gently and asked if she'd hurt her hand.
But later, the love letters she wrote mysteriously disappeared from the house, and the senior who walked her home transferred schools the very next day.
She hated the way Liang Yanchao handled things.
So at their class reunion that night, she deliberately left the karaoke bar with a junior and pulled him to her side. "Big Brother, this is the guy I like."
The man stood beside a Rolls-Royce, holding back his feelings, his eyes dark. He didn't say a word.
But his knuckles had gone white around the black umbrella handle.
At first, Xu Yi thought Liang Yanchao was only looking after her out of courtesy, with maybe a little possessiveness of a family member.
But that night, he pinned her against a corner, his scorching breath brushing her neck as he gripped her wrist so tightly it hurt.
"Say it again. Who do you like?"

Only later did she remember that early spring when she accompanied Liang Yanchao to a temple to pray for good fortune. Wind chimes rang beneath the mountain as people made their wishes, and she had pestered him into buying two for them, too.
She leaned over to look, then pointed out that he had written a character wrong.
He merely lowered his eyes and smiled before hanging it up just as it was.
What a shame she'd been so slow to catch on. Only now did she understand.
Spring breezes rose and fell through the years, brushing over the neat, strong ink strokes on the wish slip in her memory:
[Hold a precious pearl in your palm, and keep your heart turned toward Yi]
So that was the meaning of Yi.
