Xiao Cui is a celestial maiden serving the Queen Mother of the West. She accidentally pulled out a handful of the Queen Mother's hair while combing it, so she was banished to the mortal world. To return to Heaven, she must find the Queen Mother's beloved spirit fox, which was accidentally left behind in the mortal realm.
After more than a thousand years in the mortal world, Xiao Cui has weathered countless trials and witnessed dynasties rise and fall, from ancient times to the modern day. Spiritual energy has grown increasingly scarce, and the gods have fallen one after another, yet she still hasn't found the spirit fox. With the fall of the last god in the world, Heaven ceases to exist, and Xiao Cui's world comes crashing down. She gives up searching. Whatever happens, happens. The spirit fox, spirit cats, spirit dogs, none of them have anything to do with her anymore. She hopes a bolt of violet-gold lightning will come down from Heaven and strike her dead. She's tired of living.
Hu Sheng realizes that his secretary, Xiao Cui, has changed. She's becoming more and more brazen.
