The paranormal returns, and the world changes.

At some point, ghost stories and monsters began appearing all over the world. Rules became the laws of survival that people ceaselessly sought out and followed.

Ace investigator Cao Yuan struggled to survive in this wretched world for twelve years. He performed countless feats and recorded more anomalies than he could count, yet still couldn't escape being killed by an anomaly for breaking a rule.

Reborn, Cao Yuan chose to lie flat.

He quit his job early and returned to his hometown, ready to face these immortal monsters in a place of beautiful mountains and clear waters. But while cleaning out his old family home, an accident triggered an heirloom passed down through his ancestors.

Cao Yuan never imagined he would inherit a prison that held anomalies captive.

Everyone knows anomalies have no reason and can only survive by following rules.

So what was going on with the anomalies in this prison? Not only did they all have bizarre personalities, they were a bunch of toadies, spending every day either sucking up to him or finding new ways to suck up to him.

Cao Yuan didn't know that the moment he inherited the prison, he himself had become a Calamity-level anomaly.
