Blurb:
Xi Yuan and Jiang Yu were classmates for a year, but rarely interacted. Neither was outgoing, and they seemed to have no place in each other's worlds.
Then, by a twist of fate, they became deskmates in their second year of high school. As Xi Yuan and Jiang Yu started spending more time together, she realized that no matter what she said, he would only watch her quietly, as obedient as could be.
Later, on the night before Xi Yuan left to study abroad, she received a phone call. The person on the other end stayed silent for 13 seconds.
"Isn't there anything you want to say to me?"
She bit her lower lip, hiding her distress from the person on the other end. But the phone knew nothing of her struggle. Even when she finally hung up in despair, she never heard a single word from him.
Years later, the renowned painter Xi Yuan held a solo exhibition titled "Mountain and You." It wasn't her first exhibition, but it drew extensive media coverage because every painting in the gallery depicted the same person.
It was common knowledge that Xi Yuan never painted portraits.
During an interview, a reporter asked why she had repeatedly declared that she would never paint people, yet made an exception this time, painting the same figure in every work.
"My husband always says I don't love him enough, so I held 'Mountain and You.' I used to avoid painting people because human feelings are the most fleeting thing in the world."
"But he's different."
Please note:
