# The carefree, arrogant, and audacious Third Prince x the bright, bold little fairy who always speaks her mind
Ming Shu is the youngest daughter of the Celestial Emperor.
She never studies magic or swordsmanship, spending every day pondering the Mandate of Heaven.
As the saying goes, "The Mandate of Heaven cannot be defied."
Ming Shu calculates that she has a trial of love to overcome, and only after passing it can she become a true deity.
Through divination, she learns that her "destined" lover is a mortal named Wen Cuogui.
She and this mortal are destined to meet in a ruined temple.
He is twenty-four, with red sandalwood prayer beads in hand and a beauty mark between his brows, as gentle and refined as jade.
So she immediately packs her things and descends to the mortal realm to find this man named Wen Cuogui, hoping to overcome her trial of love.
But as soon as she arrives, she loses her way. Then a sudden downpour forces her to take shelter in the nearest temple of a divine lord.
Just then, a young man strolls into the temple.
He has red sandalwood prayer beads in hand and a beauty mark between his brows, but his eyes and brows are full of rebellious arrogance. There is no sign of the gentle, refined manner she expected.
He also looks a little young, perhaps seventeen.
Seeing someone in the temple, the young man raises an eyebrow, looking slightly surprised.
At the sight of his familiar attire, Ming Shu knows he must be Wen Cuogui.
She runs up to him and says earnestly, "Please marry me!"
The Divine Lord Zhiyu, who is passing the time disguised as a mortal: "???"
After they marry, Ming Shu can't help thinking that her husband is a mysterious man.
He dislikes being touched and often disappears.
On the very first day of their marriage, he "politely" tells her, "I have a peculiar habit. I don't like people touching me. You don't mind, do you, my lady?"
Of course Ming Shu doesn't mind.
Their days pass in a muddle, with her husband disappearing every few days. Just as Ming Shu decides things are going swimmingly and waits to become a deity...
On a whim, she visits that temple of the divine lord.
A young man happens to be there, prayer beads in hand and a beauty mark between his brows. He smiles at her, gentle and courteous. "Greetings, madam. I am Wen Cuogui, a scholar on my way to the capital to take the imperial examinations. May I ask if this is the Temple of the Divine Lord Zhiyu?"
Ming Shu: "?"
"What did you say your name was?"
"Wen Cuogui."
Ming Shu: "!!!"
If his name is Wen Cuogui, then what is her husband's name?
Just as Ming Shu is racking her brains, convinced her mission is doomed, a languid young voice comes from behind her:
"I see."
"Now remember this, my lady. My name is Li Zhiyu."
The Divine Lord Zhiyu is the Marshal of the Central Altar, one of the Five Camps' Divine Generals, and a demon-subduing deity revered by Buddhists, Daoists, and Confucians alike.
He has a rebellious streak and an unruly nature, often disregarding the laws of Heaven and enjoying disguising himself as a mortal to wander the human world.
Everyone in the Celestial Court knows that more than ten years ago, the Divine Lord had a mortal wife, who later died of illness.
He then returned to the Celestial Court and restrained his unruly ways.
He observed mourning for her for over a decade, living like an ascetic.
Until the Peach Banquet.
Princess Ming Shu returned from her trial and threw herself into the Queen Mother's arms, recounting the years she had spent in the mortal realm. "My husband died young, and our daughter has been observing mourning for him."
Her voice was soft and sweet, exactly like that of the Divine Lord's mortal wife.
So the man who had been quietly drinking, untouched by worldly concerns, lowered his eyes. When he recognized her, he dropped his wine cup and shattered it.
At the sound, Ming Shu looked up and saw a face exactly like that of her mortal husband.
Ming Shu: "???!!"
The man's slender eyes curved with a smile as he looked at her, unhurried. "I died?"
He kept his expression in check, showing none of the joy of their reunion.
Only the hand at his side clenched the hem of his robe, veins standing out.
I'm sorry.
You and I are destined to be entangled, life after life.
