Legend has it that a city called Nightfall floats somewhere in the vast, boundless universe, home to the Nightfolk.
Nightfall was born on the day of the Big Bang. Having witnessed the universe's power with his own eyes, the leader of the Nightfolk feared it and ordered his people, generation after generation, to hide inside the city and never set foot beyond its gates.
Nightfall is forever shrouded in darkness, darker even than a black hole. With no light, no one knows it exists, allowing it to remain a mystery.
Until the year 2022 by Earth's calendar, when Nightfall crowned a new king named Bai Zhan.
Determined to give his people light, he flung open the city gates and beheld a wondrous world unlike anything he had ever seen.
He saw the sun and was captivated by its dazzling radiance.
He saw Earth and marveled at its brilliant colors.
He saw Saturn and admired its beautiful rings.
He saw the Milky Way and was moved by its dazzling splendor.
From then on, he no longer wished to hide in the dark. He vowed to find a planet as radiant as Earth to take the place of his Nightfall, so his people could escape the darkness too.
"Would you help me look for one?" he asked Han Xiaoyu, the friend he had made on Earth.
"Of course. I think I've already found something." Han Xiaoyu pointed excitedly at the starry sky.
