A Record of Life in Nonhuman Society

Shi Qingyi swore that in the more than twenty years he'd been alive, he'd always been a law-abiding person who followed the rules and tried to live a normal life like any normal person.

But ever since he started working at the Institute for the Study of Nonhuman Social Life, he'd been dragged into all kinds of outrageous antics by his unconventional seniors.

"You're young. It's normal to be shy. Come out and run a stall with me for a couple of days to toughen up." A fortune-teller adjusted his round sunglasses and twirled his fake mustache. "Come on, start hawking! Whether we have money for dinner depends on you today."

A certain calligrapher squatted beside an antique stall. "Xiao Shi, I picked up several boxes of old books again today. Could you help me carry them home?"

A certain teacher clasped his hands and pleaded with Shi Qingyi, holding a lesson plan. "Please, you have to be my test subject. I have a very important open class tomorrow! I'm begging you!"

Things like this were endless. Worse still, Shi Qingyi had to write up an entire stack of records.

"Why don't the seniors have to do this kind of thing?" Shi Qingyi lifted his head from the desk and couldn't help asking.

"Because you're the only human among us." A certain pipa spirit gently waved a fan. "The Institute for the Study of Nonhuman Social Life is exactly what it sounds like. Our lives are nonhuman lives, too."

"So keep writing!" a certain teacher said enthusiastically. "I'll treat you to a feast tonight, for sure."

Shi Qingyi glanced at the notebook he was still filling out and couldn't help howling at the sky. "I can't go on living like this!"
