[A gloomy, world-weary office worker who quits her job to seek a quiet life x a delinquent girl who often gets herself into a complete mess], top-focused, older top, ten-year age gap.
After quitting without notice and returning to her hometown, Xu Ze finally catches her breath in a dingy bar tucked away in a corner of the small city.
The lights are dim, the air is stifling, and she feels like letting go for once. When the woman beside her at the bar, wearing awful heavy makeup and crying, leans in to kiss her, Xu Ze doesn't refuse.
But as they stumble together beneath a streetlight, the woman's collar slips open, revealing a blue-and-white school uniform...
Xu Ze jolts, instantly sobered, and shoves her away.
"You're not a high school student, are you?!"
The girl's tears dry. She wipes her mouth and sneers.
"How boring, adults."

A week later, Xu Ze, who lives alone, gets a favor request from her mother. A relative's child has lost her father and has been passed from one home to another for years. She has nowhere to turn and no one willing to take her in, so she needs to stay at Xu Ze's place for a while.
Bound by family obligations, Xu Ze has no choice but to agree.
Her brother-in-law drives Xu Ze to meet the girl and kindly warns her on the way: the kid is a little bastard who grew up without a father, doesn't study, and has sticky fingers.
The little bastard turns out to be seventeen or eighteen, wearing a blue-and-white school uniform and headphones, with a bandage on her head and bruises under her eyes. The more Xu Ze studies that young face, the more familiar it seems, and the more her heart races.
The girl looks up and gives her a cold, crooked smile.
"Sis, do you remember me?"
-
Xu Ze thought Xin Youli would be a problem she'd be desperate to pass on to someone else.
But she discovers that this little troublemaker is all bark and no bite. Beneath her dirty, prickly exterior, she's sweet.
