Crossing Worlds with Nine Lives

Jiuming and Jintail are a pair of kindred spirits who share each other's misfortunes. Jiuming has eight tails. Whenever a ninth is about to grow, Jiuming goes to find someone, listens to their wish, and helps them make it come true. To help his hard-luck brother, Jintail stole his master's Boundary Pearl and gave it to Jiuming. When he was discovered, his immortal bones were stripped away, and he was punished by being sent down to the mortal world. Jiuming gazed up at the pitch-black night sky, so deep and heavy it seemed to press down on his head. Baring his teeth in defiance, Jiuming would rather wander the mortal world until death than ever grow a ninth tail!
