Nan Qiao is an online novelist with a modest following. By chance, a talent scout discovers her, and she enters the entertainment industry in search of inspiration, adopting the persona of a "cool beauty."
Once in the industry, she lives by the principle that one fewer enemy means one more path forward. She keeps her distance from Jiang Yuye, her childhood friend, who is now a cool top-tier star.
Nan Qiao thinks that if she stays far enough away and acts deferential enough, Jiang Yuye will be gracious and forget the reckless, outrageous things she did as a kid.
But ever since they crossed paths, Jiang Yuye has been constantly messing with her. He buys her coffee hot enough to scald her, locks her in the studio...
And in the end, just to prank her, he agrees to appear with her on a dating show.
