Biting the Lotus

The Unkillable Xiao He / Xiao He Is Pretty Annoying, Too Xiao He was born lowly, into a poor family. Her grandfather made straw sandals, and her father sold them. Years ago, when the Chen family was fighting to conquer the realm, someone saved the life of Old Master Chen along the way. Later, the Chen family changed the dynasty and took the throne. They remembered the debt they owed Xiao He's family for saving a life, and planned to marry Xiao He to the Chen family's second son, Prince Qu. Prince Qu looked down on Xiao He, thinking her a country bumpkin. Everyone in her family wanted to use her to climb the social ladder. After their wedding, he spent his time with his concubines and attendants, carousing and leaving Xiao He forgotten. Who would have thought that Xiao He wasn't alone? Someone else had accompanied Prince Qu when he went to ask for her hand in marriage. The Crown Prince, Chen Feisi, had gone with his younger brother to repay the family's old debt by proposing to a commoner's daughter. He knew Prince Qu looked down on the plain, dowdy Xiao He, but never expected to get more and more involved himself. The two of them crossed the line, and Chen Feisi now also had to contend with a longtime meritorious official and tutor to the crown prince, who had submitted a memorial urging him to marry. [Because of Xiao He, he rose; because of Xiao He, he fell] Theme: Live well.
