The Blue of Water

(Thanks to everyone reposting this story. When you do, please credit the original and note that it's updated on Jinjiang. Many thanks!)

When I finally realize this is a stubborn mistake, finally understand that everything was a beautiful dream, and finally decide to put an end to this ill-fated bond... will you forgive me?

When I refuse to bow to a fate doomed to despair, refuse all sympathy and long only for your smile, refuse the destruction I cannot escape but also refuse new hope... will you look at me once more?

When I finally stop running away, finally find what it means to take responsibility, and finally bravely face an unchangeable past and an elusive, unreachable future... will you still be there?

I wait in darkness and solitude; I come from spiritual grace and compassion. The stars fill my eyes, and my song heals the desolate earth. Though my hands play a timeless melody, they cannot hold on to a fleeting bond of love.

Me, you, all of you, everyone. Where does the past lie, and where is the future?

A story of searching for oneself and something to hold on to, and the helpless workings of cause and effect.

Let's live on, together.
