Su Mingming was a girl who grew up tough as a weed. Through her own hard work, she finally bought a small home and a car to get around in. Sadly, she died in an accident before she could enjoy them for long, and transmigrated into the body of a young woman in the 1990s. Her father was dead, her mother had remarried long ago, and she'd just graduated and returned home to learn that the family property was about to be demolished, making her rich overnight.
Because of the demolition, her boyfriend's mother, who had once looked down on her for being an orphan, came smiling and said she agreed to let her son register their marriage the next day. Distant relatives she'd barely seen in ages appeared out of nowhere, some demanding a share of the money, others asking for loans. Her mother, whom she hadn't seen in over a decade, also showed up hoping to get a piece of the pie. The village and her home alike were in an uproar every day.
But Su Mingming wasn't the original owner's pushover. She'd spent her whole life living under other people's roofs and had seen the cold and warmth of human nature. If she weren't clever and resilient, she would have disappeared into the countryside long ago, waiting to be married off in exchange for a bride price.
Now she'd soon have no shortage of money. It was a wonderful era, full of opportunities. The only downside was that one headache after another kept messing with her peace of mind. Her mother would periodically bring the younger children she'd had later to guilt-trip her, and her distant relatives would take turns asking her for money: one day, someone was sick and needed a loan; the next, someone had died and the family couldn't afford the funeral, so they asked her to help...
She refused every unreasonable request, and her reputation was ruined. People called her all sorts of names. She didn't care. She had money, and no matter how harshly they scolded her or how sweetly they spoke, they wouldn't trick a single cent out of her.
The strange thing was, her eyes had started acting weirdly. Within a certain range, she could move objects with her mind and read people's thoughts, though the abilities worked only sometimes. For the sake of a good life ahead, she'd have to study them carefully.
