Heroine's story:
Shen Qingyue has bad luck and offends Xiao Xuan, the most respected Immortal Venerable in the heavens.
As a result, she suffers constant torment in the celestial realm.
Luckily, her master sends her down to the mortal world to undergo a trial and bring about a fated romance.
But when she jumps into the Ghost Cave, Xiao Xuan follows her.
In the mortal world, they both lose their memories. The role Shen Qingyue gets is that of a woman forced to marry a frail prince, who already has someone he loves. Later, she discovers that she is the childhood sweetheart he has been searching for.
In the end, she dies taking an arrow meant for the frail prince.
And that frail prince is Xiao Xuan, who jumped down with her.
When they return to the celestial realm and meet again, Shen Qingyue feels as if something is missing from her chest.
Xiao Xuan, meanwhile, only gazes at her with red-rimmed eyes.
Later, the ice-cold Xiao Xuan turns the accusation around on her: “Shen Qingyue, you have no heart.”
How strange. She's a red thread, so where would she get a heart?
Hero's story:
In the mortal world, Xiao Xuan watches the woman he loves die in his arms. Overcome with grief, he is also pierced by a thousand arrows fired by his enemies.
When he returns to the celestial realm, he sees the wife who died in the mortal world.
Xiao Xuan stays calm for a few days, but he can no longer control his feelings.
Shen Qingyue, however, seems completely unmoved.
Even though she loved him so much in the mortal world.
Only later does he learn that she has no heart.
He has spent ten thousand years searching for one, all because he wants a heart.
