Novel blurb:
[Possessive, clingy, pampered heiress top x aloof, easily flustered, secretly passionate wife bottom]
Five years ago, Jiang Youxia and Xu Qingrang shot to fame together after starring in a drama. The "Xia-Qing couple" appeared out of nowhere and instantly became the gold standard for fan-service among female couples. Everyone thought it was the beginning, only to realize later that it had been their peak.
But just as their fans were shipping them for all they were worth, Jiang Youxia, one of the stars, suddenly announced her retirement from show business. After that, she vanished without a trace.
Five years later, Xu Qingrang becomes a top actress, and Jiang Youxia returns as an investor. The "Xia-Qing" duo reunite, and their fans make a comeback, only to be fed a mouthful of broken glass.
Xu Qingrang: We know each other. We're not close.
Jiang Youxia: No fan-service. Don't bring me up.
A friend gets curious.
Q: "Miss Jiang, what were you thinking back then, dumping a beauty like Xu Qingrang?"
Jiang Youxia: "Watch your wording! What do you mean, 'dumping' her?!"
Q: "Oh, then why did you abandon someone like Xu Qingrang..."
The temperature drops around them. Jiang Youxia shivers. "Do you even know how to talk? Anyway, I regret it so much! Let's move on!"
Q: "Miss Xu, when you found out you'd been dumped and abandoned, how did you feel?"
Xu Qingrang: "Hmph! If I forgive her, I'm a dog! I'm pathetic!"
Jiang Youxia: My wife is terrifying. Shaking in fear.jpg
Their friend silently looks at their hands, fingers tightly interlaced.
Xu Qingrang blushes. "Woof, woof."
Friend: "And what else?"
Xu Qingrang's earlobes turn red. "I want her body. I'm pathetic."
Jiang Youxia looks at the woman beside her, her heart twisting into a knot. How could she have ever let her go?
Later, a photo of the two of them kissing is released.
Couple fans: ???
Xu Qingrang, perfectly composed: "We're not close. We just share a bed."
Jiang Youxia, grinning slyly: "No fan-service. This is for real."

My Ex-Girlfriend, the Actress, Regrets It After I Give Up
After ten years together, Shang Li realizes that everything has changed, though she doesn't know when it began.
Perhaps it was the increasingly brief chat messages, or Meng Yuan's increasingly impatient tone...
Gradually, even when they were lying in the same bed, Meng Yuan no longer wanted to hold or kiss her. They were within reach of each other, yet separated by an unbridgeable gulf.
At first, Shang Li thought this was something every couple went through. As long as she didn't give up, once the coldness passed, they would find an even more passionate love.
Until she saw the screenshots of Meng Yuan's conversation with a friend: "It's boring" and "I want to break up." Only then did she finally understand. Perhaps Meng Yuan simply didn't love her anymore. That was all.
But how could you forget? You were the one who said you loved me first.
*
The day she decided to leave, Shang Li brought a bouquet to Meng Yuan, who was filming in the remote mountains, and wished her a bright future.
Only, from then on, Shang Li would no longer be part of that shining future.
That night, Shang Li walked calmly and resolutely into the rain, disappearing from Meng Yuan's life for good.
*
After ten years together, Meng Yuan thought time had worn away her love for Shang Li. They were together every day, and the excitement and spark of the past had faded.
She thought she might not love Shang Li anymore. She thought so even on the day Shang Li left.
But not long afterward, her emotions came crashing back. Like a huge wave rising suddenly after the tide recedes, her longing for Shang Li swept over her and swallowed her whole.
Only then did she understand what Shang Li meant to her.
The night she begged Shang Li to come back was also a night of torrential rain.
Shang Li still looked as gentle as she did in Meng Yuan's memories, but her words seemed to carve her apart. "Xiao Yuan, I hope you soar high. You'll meet someone better in the future."
The hand she was holding slowly slipped away. Shang Li turned toward the distance and walked step by step out of that rainy night.
And Meng Yuan...
Was like a bird with broken wings, her battered body soaked by the rain that night, never to dry again.
How could she... How could she let her go?
Bonus scene:
Before giving up.
"Meng Yuan, there's something I want to tell you..."
Meng Yuan pulled up the covers and turned her back. "I'm a little tired today. Some other time."
Shang Li bit her lip and nodded silently. She lay down, moved closer, and cautiously slipped an arm around Meng Yuan's waist.
Before she could hold her properly, Meng Yuan had moved to the edge of the bed. Sleepily, she said, "I'm a little hot. Don't hold me."
The air conditioner was set to 21 degrees, but Shang Li felt cold all over.
After giving up.
Because of work, Shang Li appears on a variety show, playing games and having fun with an actress.
When she gets home, someone suddenly wraps their arms around her waist in the dim hallway. Meng Yuan, her voice breaking with tears, pleads softly, "Big sister, I regret it. I really do. Please, please don't hold her. Hold me... Hold me, okay?"
As soon as she finishes speaking, she breaks down sobbing.
Theme: Cherish the present.
