Becoming a Chef, Starting with Scallion Pancakes

Jian Yuqing was transmigrated into the womb and only remembered her past life when she became gravely ill. It turned out she had entered a political intrigue novel, becoming the most insignificant cannon fodder of all: the sort who appeared in the villain's memories for just one episode. Her mother, who would one day die of illness from overwhelming grief, was still alive. Her younger brother, who would one day murder his brother-in-law's entire family to avenge someone, was alive. And her younger sister, who would one day be sold to traffickers by their vicious uncle and turn into a villain, was still a skinny, obedient little fool. None of it had begun yet. To avoid a tragic ending, Jian Yuqing decided to first take down the despicable bastard who had set her up, then lead her family to prosperity through hard work and steer clear of tragedy. For example, why not start by setting up a stall outside the prefectural academy? Yangzhou Prefectural Academy was where all students dreamed of studying. It did have one small drawback: the cafeteria food was truly awful. The students could only comfort themselves with the words, "Heaven, in about to bestow a great responsibility upon someone, must first make their heart suffer..." That was until a new food stall appeared outside the gates. Its tempting aroma made mouths water. After secretly buying an egg pancake, the students were even more astonished by how delicious it was. Then came grilled fish, stir-fried noodles, egg burgers, fried chicken, barbecue, and spicy hotpot. Even the pork offal that everyone else turned their noses up at was impossible to stop eating. Before long, Jian Yuqing had taken over the academy cafeteria. Shredded pork in Beijing sauce and braised chicken, smoked pig trotters and Yangchun noodles, lotus root stuffed with osmanthus-scented rice and braised pork rice, fish-fragrant shredded pork and bitter melon stuffed with meat, ginger fish slices and red-braised pork, taro pork belly and lotus-leaf chicken... Half a year later, the students were about to graduate. They wept bitterly. "I can't bear to leave the academy! I don't want to go!" Before the teachers could be moved, the students continued, sobbing, "After graduation, we won't be able to eat in the cafeteria anymore! How am I supposed to live without the cafeteria?" "Please come with us, Miss Jian!" "My family has a shop in Chang'an. Please come to Chang'an too!" The teachers: "...Get out of here!" Miss Jian belongs to our academy. No one else is taking her!
