The Little Chef of Dream of the Red Chamber

From the very first day she was sold into the Rongguo House, Liu Xiuyu made herself a vow: Never feel sorry for your masters!

Even if the Jia family eventually lost their noble title and official posts, had their home seized and were exiled, and saw their dependents scatter, they had all once been masters who enjoyed fine clothes and food and held the power of life and death over others!

Liu Xiuyu decided she should first spare some pity for the young girls sold into wealthy households as servants!

The story of a transmigrated heroine who drew a bad lot at birth, made friends with sisters in the world of Dream of the Red Chamber, and struggled to save herself and survive. Lately, I've been hooked on slow-paced stories that follow the original. This story mainly follows the lives of Xiuyu, Baoqin, Yuanyang, and Ping'er. The pace is very slow, the dialogue is long-winded, and the author likes to quibble over words and affect an air of refinement. If that's not your thing, please don't read.

P.S. This story is adapted from the first 80 chapters of the standard edition of Dream of the Red Chamber. All other research on the novel, including Gao E's continuation of the final 40 chapters, the allegorical interpretation school, and Liu Xinwu's works, are worthy contributions by respected predecessors, but are not among this story's sources.

I'm still building up a backlog. Let's meet again after "Feng Yue" is complete.

The author is sensitive, so if you criticize me, I'll just sob and sniffle.

The novel's fictionalized language isn't meant for scholarly scrutiny. If our values don't match, please click the X.

Theme: When poor, cultivate yourself; when prosperous, help your sisters too.
