Investiture of the Gods tells the world of the war between gods and humans that took place three thousand years ago. Yet after the Investiture of the Gods, Fuxi and Empress Nuwa vanished from all myths and legends. Daoist Duobao and Wudang Holy Mother of the Jie School, along with Baihe of the Chan School, also disappeared without a trace, as if they had never existed. This led to the ancient gods and the Daoist deities becoming two entirely separate systems.
This work gathers and records the history of the celestial realm and the myths omitted after the Investiture of the Gods, once buried and lost in writing and sealed away for at least three thousand years. It bridges the gap between the two systems of deities, and bears witness once more to the magnificent deeds and sacrifices of our ancestors, as well as their boundless compassion and concern for all under heaven!
This part of mythological history deserves to be learned and remembered by every descendant born on Chinese soil, and by all beings in the Dharma realm. In the end, it will inspire us, their descendants, to follow in their footsteps and forge ahead!
