Murder by Imperial Decree

What's the best thing about living in the imperial palace? Having the emperor on your side! Wu Si has it even better. She even has an imperial edict backing her up when she tries to assassinate someone. The moment Wu Si wakes up, she receives a secret order from the emperor: assassinate the crown prince. The job seems manageable enough, except the crown prince is the emperor's own son, his legitimate heir, a brilliant man of letters and war. The entire court can find no fault with him. Killing him is even harder than taking out his father. Wu Si: ... She thinks she is doomed again. But the crown prince clearly has no idea that he is the one in danger. No matter what happens to her, he protects and looks after her, never letting her suffer the slightest grievance. That makes her, the one holding the knife, feel a little guilty. After a while, Wu Si realizes with some alarm that everyone around her seems to know why she is there, yet they all treat her with great affection and protect her fiercely. The Grand Princess, the Imperial Noble Consort, the chief eunuch, the Duke's wife... every one of them is the same. Even the emperor openly favors her. That actually puts Wu Si at ease. If the emperor isn't worried about his own son's safety, why should she panic? * Reason for entering the contest: The heroine comes from a distinguished family.
