Dreams Beneath the Blue Sky, Thoughts of a Fleeting Life

This is the tedious story of an egg-like fruit containing a girl who seems half-beast, but is actually... something else. She is swept into Kunlun by a blight, then floats from Kunlun back to the Mortal Realm, rises from the Mortal Realm to Peng Mountain and becomes an immortal, returns to the Mortal Realm heartbroken from Peng Mountain, then climbs the mountain again and heads for the throne, and finally withdraws from the throne into the Yellow Sea... The timeline is set in the generation before King Kei's childhood, so Enki isn't Rokuta, but the one before him. Likewise, Renki belongs to the political leadership of the Kingdom of Ren before the current Ren Taiho, since by Youko's time it is already Rinnrin. (That one's pretty obvious, since even the gender has changed.) Within this same framework, I'm sure many authors could write something better, longer, and more detailed than I have. Sadly, I'm no good at writing long works, so this ended up as a rough, plot-driven fanfic of a mere fifty thousand characters. Looking back, I can't be bothered to do major revisions, add chapters, explain things, or handle any other exhausting cleanup... So... that's how it is... PS: The Twelve Kingdoms background music is wonderful. Sadly, Fuun's link stopped working again, so I had to switch to Weihu. But after more than ten years, even Weihu can't be found in searches anymore. What a waste of great music. Theme: Kunlun, the Mortal Realm, Peng Mountain, the royal palace, the Yellow Sea. Wherever my heart finds peace is home.
