The Saint Mermaid

Our protagonist has no surname. His name is Yu, and he is one of the lowliest Dao-Ear slaves. The only problem is that he falls in love with the young lady.

A Dao-Ear slave is someone whose ear is cut when they are born. A special magical dye is sprinkled on the wound, and when it heals, it leaves a rainbow-colored scar. This scar is magical. It follows them for life and also creates a matching magical scroll. Whoever holds that scroll can order a Dao-Ear slave to do anything. Even if they are told to die, they cannot refuse.

People with this scar are no longer considered human, but their owner's property. Even ordinary slaves know they rank above Dao-Ears. Dao-Ears are no longer considered people. Although they are technically human, and can speak, walk, and work, they are recognized only as living objects.

Our protagonist is one such Dao-Ear slave. But how did someone so lowly come to be called a saint?

Read on and decide for yourselves.
