Synopsis:
Chen Ke grew up in Qianshan Village, where everyone shunned him because his widowed mother was always trying to lure other women's husbands into her home.
Later, his mother died, and he lost his home too.
Luckily, the only male couple in the village, the Shen family, took him in and had him look after their grounds.
Chen Ke thought he would live out his life in peace, until one day he caught an unusually ugly, dark-colored bighead carp.
Holding the fish, Chen Ke muttered to himself, "It's so ugly. What if nobody buys it?"
The bighead carp blinked its tiny eyes, leaped up in a fury, and knocked him clean into the lake.
When he woke up, he found himself in a completely unfamiliar world, inexplicably the prospective mate of an ugly bighead carp and responsible for helping raise two little bighead carp.
Chen Ke: "You're fish. You can't talk."
Jiao Chu: "We're dragons! Dragons! Not fish! Why can't we talk?"
Chen Ke pressed his lips together and stared silently at him and the two bighead carp beside him, their reflections mirrored in his dark pupils.
Jiao Chu: "...Before we come of age, we haven't undergone our second transformation, so we really do look a bit like ordinary fish... But we won't look like this after our second transformation. Believe me!"
Chen Ke: "Oh."
Jiao Chu: "..."
On the night they became mates...
Chen Ke sat on the floor, expressionless, looking at the dark dragon who had crushed the bed. "Turn back into a bighead carp. Now!"
Jiao Chu: "!!!"
Three years later...
Jiao Chu watched jealously as Chen Ke played in the water with their little ones. "That bighead carp is so ugly. Why don't we throw it away?"
Chen Ke: "..."
