Alvis, the revered Pope of the Church, is the embodiment of light, a living faith walking among mortals, and the brightest jewel in the divine crown.
Alvis: Thanks, but that's an exaggeration. I'm just an ordinary clergyman.
Beneath his glorious exterior, Alvis is actually a...
corporate drone.
He has a mountain of unfinished business left behind by his predecessor, while out in the world, idiotic players keep making brainless moves. After topping the corporate drone rankings for years, His Holiness the Pope finally reaches his limit and explodes.
Church business? Hand it to his subordinates.
Players? Send them off to work.
As for the demons secretly stirring up trouble, the kingdoms' royal families at each other's throats, and the unreliable allies who just watch the drama unfold...
He's had enough. Beat them all up first, then figure things out.
Allies: ? Why are you hitting me?
Alvis declares: Whoever wants this corporate drone job can have it. I'm done putting up with this. I quit!
For the sake of his future life of loafing around, His Holiness turns his attention to Cyril, the protagonist of the original story, who is still a pitiful child and destined to become the future Saint.
It shouldn't matter if Cyril becomes the Saint a little earlier or later, right?
Cyril once thought he would spend his whole life in filth, rot in the mud, and struggle to survive.
If only he had never seen the light.
From a remote border town to the Radiant Cathedral, he climbed upward one step at a time through the foulest darkness, until at last he could kiss the fingertips of the one he loved beneath the throne. The Saint's beautiful, icy blue eyes were clouded and obscure, concealing a possessive desire no one else knew about.
God, he was guilty.
He had dared, in his mortal body, to lay claim to the light.
Notes for readers:
1. A beautiful, strong, tragic, lazy corporate-drone Pope as the bottom x a seemingly innocent but secretly possessive Saint as the top. The Pope is my take on a universally adored character.
2. A fake transmigration into a book, with my take on the Fourth Calamity trope. The story is told from the natives' perspective. Readers who side with the players should read at their own discretion. See the author's note in Chapter One for other detailed content warnings.
3. Alvis will spend a fairly long time as a corporate drone. His lazy days come later.
4. The story is mainly from Alvis's point of view, with occasional chapters from Cyril's and other supporting characters' perspectives. I'm a beginner, so I hope this doesn't turn into an ensemble cast story. Amen.
Enjoy!

Woo woo woo, I can't help but come over and take a look. Is your wife really not writing? This book is really good, wow. If my wife really doesn't write anymore, please don't lock it and let me keep it in my mind. TAT
I finally wrote the leave note. To be honest, it was really a big deal and everyone understood it, but at least I left without saying goodbye. Waiting for news every day and getting nothing made it hard not to think about whether I was cheated.
. . . If it weren't for the rebate notice, I would have forgotten that this book existed. . . It's been too long since I've updated. Is this a scam?
I know, game plan. Smile
Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...
Press your claws, why is Xihuan so cold?
I would like to call it Violet's special dark cuisine. Mom will no longer have to worry about someone snatching food from Your Majesty (No)
Woo woo woo woo woo, my wife won't follow, she's so beautiful.
When will it be updated? I've stopped updating for a week, right?
When will the author update? (^???^)
