A female ghost, Yin Xixi, transmigrates into the body of an obscure 18th-tier celebrity. The original owner was short on money and was about to join an online horror variety show called Haunted House Challenge. Whoever makes it to the final stage wins a huge cash prize.
Having seen all kinds of ghosts who died horrible deaths and visited terrifying hells in many places, Yin Xixi thinks this will be a piece of cake!
When the show begins, petite, sweet-looking Yin Xixi sticks out like a sore thumb among the other contestants.
Viewers are baffled: This is a horror variety show, not a talent competition! Hey, did this girl wander onto the wrong set!?
Everyone guesses that Yin Xixi will be the first contestant to get scared into tears and quit the show.
They urge her: With a face like that, wouldn't it be better to go back to the entertainment industry and be a pretty face? There's no need to risk your life in a haunted house for this little money!
The first night in the haunted house.
A long-haired woman in white, played by a staff member, eerily floats toward the contestants. The others scramble away in terror, but Yin Xixi stands motionless with her head bowed.
Viewers: It's over. Yin Xixi is so scared her legs have turned to jelly!
But then...
The motionless Yin Xixi slowly raises her head. A creepy cackle escapes her lips, and her expression is chillingly sinister.
The NPC ghost, who happens to look up, screams in fright, tears off her wig, and runs away.
Viewers watching the show under their blankets in the middle of the night tremble: Who the hell is the ghost here!?
Later, viewers realize that...
Sweet-looking and seemingly harmless, Yin Xixi is even scarier than the show's ghosts when she dresses up as one.
It's not just the show's NPCs she sends scrambling away in terror. Even the real ghosts in the haunted house are so frightened that they hide in corners and don't dare make a sound.
By the end of the show, Yin Xixi becomes a sensation!
She also becomes a famous exorcist specializing in haunted houses, and haunted-house owners around the world compete to hire her!

Yin Xixi was a ghost for many years. One day, she returns to a human body, but her soul is unstable.
She gets bound to a System, which tells her she needs to raise her life points to stabilize her soul.
During the horror variety show, Yin Xixi discovers that her life points automatically increase whenever she gets close to Gu Yunzheng, a coward. So she takes it upon herself to protect him.
After the show ends and her soul is stable, Yin Xixi promptly forgets all about Gu Yunzheng, the coward.
Who could have guessed that...
Gu Yunzheng would move in next door, so they see each other every single day!
Even more absurdly...
Every night, Gu Yunzheng clutches a pillow and knocks on Yin Xixi's door, looking pitiful and wronged. "Xixi, I'm scared of ghosts!"
Yin Xixi: "..."
What does that have to do with her!
Just as she's about to shut the door, the man blocks it and barges in, gritting his teeth. "You flirt with me and then run off. Yin Xixi, you have no heart!"
Reader's Guide:
1. The female lead can catch ghosts, and the story involves the supernatural.
2. The male lead has yin-yang eyes and can see ghosts.
3. The variety-show portion may not be very long, and could take up about half the story.
Message: Take responsibility.
