Tong Hua’s family suffers a sudden calamity. Her father flees with a pile of debt, and creditors come to her door, threatening to make her pay it off.
With no one to turn to, Tong Hua knocks on her neighbor’s door.
After a long while, the door opens a crack. The man’s narrow phoenix eyes are cold as he says mercilessly, “I can’t deal with your mess.”
Her last shred of hope is snuffed out, and Tong Hua trembles as she cries.
Cheng Ju softens and asks in a low voice, “Can you cook?”
Tong Hua tries to please him. “Yes, I can do anything!”
Looking at the girl through her tear-blurred eyes, Cheng Ju bends down and wipes away her tears with his rough fingertips. “Fine. Come with me.”

Only later does Cheng Ju realize he’s been tricked. The girl can’t do a thing.
He has to do all the cooking and laundry himself, and even finds time to tie her hair and help her with her homework.
One day, his buddies call so many times to invite him out for drinks that his phone nearly explodes, but he’s left racking his brains over an equation, feeling like he has nothing left in life.
A friend teases him, “She’s just some kid you picked up. Why are you so invested?”
At that, Cheng Ju throws a playing card in the guy’s face and snaps, “Keep your voice down. If you make her cry, I’ll have to comfort her.”

Later, Cheng Ju never expects the little girl who used to trail after him to suddenly grow up.
When he hears that Tong Hua has fallen for someone…
One night, thinking she’s going on a date, Cheng Ju finally can’t hold back and keeps her from leaving. His gaze darkens. “Did all those years of caring for you mean nothing to you?”
“What would make them mean something?” Tong Hua rises onto her tiptoes and kisses Cheng Ju on the chin, then asks innocently, “Like this?”

I can't stand it. I don't know what the heroine's father is thinking. He doesn't support his own daughter, but raises someone else's son. He wants his own daughter and faces those debt collectors. He lives a good life here. I don't dare to think about how miserable the heroine would be if he hadn't met the hero.
Oh my gosh, this is good to watch, but it's too short and not enough to watch. I'm looking forward to the plot in the future.
