I Took a Remote Control into an Apocalypse Drama

The Rise of the Apocalypse is a hit web series currently airing online. The show is terrifying and bloody, with corpses strewn everywhere and mutated plants, animals, and zombies all around. Fortunately, humans have also evolved superpowers to fight back. Ordinary people without powers are at the bottom of the food chain, clinging to life and struggling to survive. Unfortunately, Li Jiugao gets sucked into the show and becomes an ordinary person who can't even fight off a chicken. According to the original series, he should be killed off in the very first episode. A truly miserable fate! But with his head about to hit the ground, Li Jiugao doesn't panic in the slightest. He calmly pulls a remote control out of his pocket! "Sorry, I accidentally grabbed the remote when I got pulled into the show." Not enough food? Not enough medicine? Easy! Rewind with the remote to before the disaster began and stock up on everything. Mutated plants up ahead? Easy! Rewind with the remote and avoid every dangerous scene. A high-level zombie up ahead? Easy! Set the remote to quarter speed, chop off the zombie's head in one clean stroke, and collect its crystal core. With the remote, an ordinary guy thrives in the apocalypse. Then one day, he discovers that the remote can change channels, letting him switch to another world entirely. From that day on, Li Jiugao's dream changes from simply surviving on his own to saving all of humanity and helping everyone make it through alive. System question: "Mr. Li, which button on the remote do you like best?" "Pause." "Why?" "Because..." Li Jiugao presses pause, reaches up to pull a handsome man working on a drug-development project close, and plants a firm kiss on his pale, cool cheek. "Can you understand how good this feels?" His lover is busy saving the world, so even kissing has to wait for the pause button. From the love interest's perspective: Qi Yue Bai has only ever loved one thing: doing research in the lab. As a pharmacist, he is determined to develop a drug that can change ordinary people's genes and let them protect themselves in the apocalypse just like people with powers. But a horde of mutated beasts destroys his lab. His dream remains unfulfilled, and he is about to die. He can't accept it. He opens his eyes. He's not dead. Someone has saved him. The man's white clothes are stained with blood. Armed with nothing but a spear, he carries Qi Yue Bai out of the horde, treading through a mountain of corpses.
