One night in 1996, the usually gentle Xing Yi suddenly seemed like a different person. He cornered Chi Hui in front of the bookshelf and let her slowly work up the courage to wrap her arms around his waist.

He tipped up her chin, smiling with an obsessive, wicked charm. "You say you like me, yet you come this close. Aren't you afraid I'll do something?"

Chi Hui's pale eyes were bright. "Do you think I'd be scared by that kind of threat?"

"What?" He chuckled softly.

Chi Hui rose on tiptoe and whispered by his ear, "Don't forget, I only like him."

She smiled. "And that's not you."

A rift in time and space. Chi Hui should have opened her eyes in 2016, but instead she found herself standing in a dim alley in 1996.

Torrential rain poured down, blurring her vision.

Standing before her was her beloved Xing Yi, whose heart monitor had shown a flat line just ten minutes earlier, pronouncing him dead.

The beloved she remembered as gentle and kind was now only in his teens. His features were full of hostility, his eyes shadowed like the deep sea, and his lips pressed into a hard, straight line. He was cold and unfamiliar.

The boy walked through the rain and stopped in front of her. "Are you Xing Yi's Yunyun, or Wen Heng's sweetheart? Tell me, and I'll help you find him."

Chi Hui trembled, not daring to look into his eyes for one second longer.

A few seconds later, the boy bent down and stared at her.

"Or is the person you came here to see me?"

It turned out this wasn't the first time they had met.
