Bai Lin was sealed away for more than a thousand years by the combined power of the immortals, after falling into depravity.
The one who awakened him was a little nine-tailed fox demon named Jiu Ji.
Looking at the little girl lying in a pool of blood, Bai Lin bent down and reached out to her. "My name is Bai Lin. I am willing to become the blade in your hand. Have you made your decision?"
The girl took his hand without hesitation. Her eyes, as she looked up at him, were timid yet resolute.
Bai Lin gripped her fingertips as they trembled from the excruciating pain. He dropped to one knee, looked up, and said, "Master, please give me your first command."

Jiu Ji was the youngest imperial princess of the spirit fox clan, born with nine tails.
The little princess possessed powerful sorcery, and the fox clan regarded her as the pride of their people.
Yet when heavenly punishment came, she watched helplessly as her people fell one by one and her tails were severed, one after another...
In her desperate hour, Jiu Ji used a forbidden spell to summon Bai Lin, an evil fallen immortal.
Feigning composure, Jiu Ji used the favor he owed her to claim this legendary evil immortal as her servant.
This servant was powerful and mysterious, and she desperately needed him for her revenge.

Later, Jiu Ji stood barefoot on Bai Lin's shoulder and bent down to tilt up his chin. "Was it worth giving up your chance to become an immortal again for me?"
Bai Lin clasped the ankle resting on his shoulder with one hand and pulled Jiu Ji toward him with the other. Leaning close to her ear, he murmured, "Master should love me dearly. Little Jiu needs me, doesn't she?"
He had long harbored the desire to defy his master. She tempted and enticed him, and he drank it all in willingly.
