I never set out to write a sweet story. The inspiration came from a short, hundred-character post on Weibo: An Omega has a child, and afterward the Alpha finds that his parents and wife devote all their attention to the baby and neglect him, causing the Alpha to gradually fall ill and become depressed. I kept waiting for the continuation, but later found out that the author's Weibo account had been hacked. So I decided to write my own version. Since I don't know how to write depression, though, I changed it a bit. I never expected it to turn out so sweet (I'm sorry), so if you don't like angst, you can stop at Chapter 32.

A lot of you have asked how a story this sweet could have angst. Maybe my writing isn't good enough to bring certain things across. Wen Xi isn't as wonderful as he seems, and Xingjian has his own issues too. He's not that strong. So when he starts feeling insecure and doesn't get comforted, he'll gradually fall apart. When Xingjian falls apart, Wen Xi does irrational things, so that's where most of the angst comes from. But it also makes them more honest with each other.

So if you don't read angst, run! I've warned you plenty of times. I don't want you to be laughing one minute and then get stabbed in the back the next.

There will be a pregnancy-and-childbirth plotline. The child is a plot device needed to move the story forward, so don't read if that bothers you.

The gong is in poor health, but he's not weak.
