A fleeting glimpse at university stayed with Chu Xia for five years. When they met again, they sat down together as blind dates.
As Grandpa Gu's health declined day by day, his greatest wish was to see Gu Wanglin get married. By chance, the old man had met Chu Xia once and decided she was a good girl. Gu Wanglin didn't want to disappoint his grandfather, so he went along with Chu Xia's act of being a loving couple. When the time was right, they got married. The return of his first love put their relationship in danger.
Not long after Chu Xia gave birth, Grandpa passed away, and the two divorced. Only then did Gu Wanglin realize he had fallen in love with the woman who had quietly given everything for him.
Then begins the daily pursuit of his ex-wife.
A little scene:
"Daddy, Daddy, wake up!" Little Gu Wangchu pinches her father's cheeks with her little hands and pokes his eyes.
Gu Wanglin opens his eyes and looks at his daughter. "Baby, let Daddy sleep a little longer."
"Daddy, Baby is already up. Why aren't you?" She pats Gu Wanglin's head with her little hand.
"Oh! Daddy, are you feeling sick?"
Then she toddles out and, a little while later, toddles back in.
The little girl is holding a toy medical kit. She slowly climbs onto the bed. Chu Xia walks in just as the little girl picks up a toy stethoscope and tries to lift the blanket covering Gu Wanglin. Chu Xia rushes over in a panic and stops her. Startled, the little girl gets teary-eyed and says, "Mommy, you scared me."
Chu Xia carries her out and comforts her. Once the child has calmed down, Chu Xia returns to the bedroom and taps Gu Wanglin on the arm.
"Couldn't you put on a shirt to sleep? Do you know that Chuchu almost lifted your blanket just now..."
Annoyed by his wife's endless chatter, Gu Wanglin pulls her into his arms and kisses her. Smiling, he says, "Isn't sleeping naked more convenient for us when we're making Chuchu a little brother?" Chu Xia's face turns red, and she hastily pushes Gu Wanglin away...
