The Rabbit, the Rose, and the Code [Revenge Arc]

A sweet childhood-friends romance with a reunited-lovers plot and a breakup-to-reconciliation arc from the start. A scheming, bold, sickly lawyer × an arrogant genius young lady prosecutor. Both are romantically inexperienced. Set in a fictional world, not China.

Liang Yuandao is N City’s star lawyer, the handsome son of the late national goddess Zheng Yue'e, and a young legend in the legal world. Whatever the case, he can deliver a satisfying outcome. But he has just one rule:

He never takes cases in neighboring Z City.

"Why, Master? Are their prosecutors so formidable that you're afraid of them?" his young, brash apprentice asked.

"Yes. Especially Prosecutor Shen. She's terrifying." Liang, usually so domineering and wickedly charming, instantly looked as if he'd seen a ghost.

Then his good apprentice said seriously, "Master, I've taken a case in Z City. The prosecutor's surname is Shen, and her name is Shen Yuling."

The apprentice watched his usually invincible master walk toward Prosecutor Shen with the calm expression of a man heading to his death. Then he said, "Shen Yuling, let's be together. This is the thousand-and-first time I've confessed to you."

"No." The prosecutor, wearing a bright red tie, had a gaze as thorny as a rose. "And this is the thousand-and-first time I've said no."

The apprentice gaped.

"You know Prosecutor Shen?"

"I've known her for twenty years," the great lawyer Liang said sadly.

Fifteen years ago, he left her and paid no attention to her at all, until one day they met again on the same battlefield.

With a heart full of guilt, he said, "Let's be together for good from now on."

She said, "No."

In a secluded corner, the young, handsome lawyer stopped the prosecutor. "Why, Shen Yuling?"

"I'm a prosecutor and you're a lawyer," the prosecutor said, turning away to avoid his burning gaze. "So according to the law, we can't."

"I see. But you and I aren't in the same city." The lawyer smiled and kissed her. "So according to the law, we can."

We've already missed ten years together. Let's not miss the rest of our lives.
