Edgar, a bestselling novelist, is primarily a writer, but also moonlights as a detective and chief strategist for the American supernatural organization known as the Combination. One ordinary morning when he was twenty-two, he remembered some very strange things.
For example, Edgar Allan Poe was supposed to have lived in the nineteenth century, and supernatural abilities like these were never supposed to exist.
For example, he seemed to be living in a world based on fanfiction.
But this memory didn't seem to be of any use. He couldn't remember his name or the details of his life in his previous life. Though he had some impression of that strange manga, in which he barely had any part,
there was one thing he knew: Edgar glanced at the huge sign outside a bookstore announcing the new release by the genius novelist Akutagawa Ryunosuke, then thought of his coworker Lovecraft, who was definitely human. He was sure he wasn't in a world where all the literary masters had abandoned the sword for the pen, either.
With that thought in mind, the next day he met Edogawa Ranpo, a detective with the Armed Detective Agency.
...So what kind of world was this, anyway?
This world is fantastical and colorful, and all sorts of supernatural incidents happen frequently.
Fortunately, they and humanity coexist in peace.
